About the Role:
The Forklift Materials Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and organization of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. This position is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively to load, unload, and transport goods. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure that materials are handled in compliance with safety regulations. The Forklift Materials Handler collaborates closely with warehouse staff and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet daily operational targets. Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license as required by OSHA standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory control software.
- Basic mechanical skills to perform minor forklift maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Additional certifications related to material handling or safety training.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Inspect forklifts and equipment daily to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Organize and store materials in designated locations to maintain an orderly warehouse environment.
- Accurately document the movement of materials and update inventory management systems in real time.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to coordinate material flow and meet production or shipping deadlines.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and help resolve discrepancies in stock records.
