POSITION SUMMARY
Functions as a consultant to all staff and patients in the areas of skin prevention, wounds, ostomies and continence needs. Coordinates and facilitates discharge planning and assists with quality measures i.e.: NDNQI Prevalence study for patients as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Â
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School education or equivalent.
- Completion of a registered nurse degree program required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years full-time professional nursing experience with medical-surgical patients.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
- Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
- Uses verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
- Communicates in highly professional manner at all times.
- Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers at all times.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Board certification in wound ostomy and continence nursing. If not certified, must have certification within 2 years of hire date.Â
- Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives minimal supervision from Director, Acute Care Services and is able to perform all clinical duties in an independent manner.
