As a Maintenance Engineer within the Advanced Imaging Solutions (AIS) business, you will have direct ownership of the maintenance, calibration, and documentation of manufacturing equipment, tooling, and instrumentation to support safe, reliable production of ultrasound probes.The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for driving preventive maintenance efforts, calibration, and asset management activities under established procedures. The position focuses on hands-on execution, organization within Asset Management systems, accurate documentation, and day-to-day support of manufacturing operations within a regulated environment. This role provides the opportunity to apply technical expertise, drive meaningful process and equipment improvements, and collaborate cross-functionally to support a robust and compliant manufacturing environment. This role will report to the Engineering Infrastructure Manager.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration activities on manufacturing equipment/ tooling in accordance with defined procedures and schedules.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, including work orders, calibration data, PM completion, and asset documentation within the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems / software.
- Support new equipment onboarding by assisting with asset creation, PM and calibration setup, labeling, and documentation processing.
- Execute troubleshooting of equipment issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers or support teams as needed.
- Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration activities are completed on time, applying Lean Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to maximize equipment reliability and prevent manufacturing downtime.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams to ensure equipment qualification elements meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with process/ equipment improvements by providing feedback on PM effectiveness, calibration needs, and equipment performance.
- Support risk assessments (PFMEA), Process Verification and Validation (V&V), and calibration requirement specification by gathering data and following established engineering guidance.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding work order status, equipment readiness, and documentation gaps.
- Assist in training operators or new team members on equipment use, basic troubleshooting, and escalation processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline with 0 - 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment OR Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance concepts and determined to learn equipment troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to follow procedures, document work accurately, and manage multiple tasks in a production environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio) and the ability to learn Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
- Familiarity with basic Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality principles.
- Familiarity with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
- Exposure to asset management or maintenance software EAM.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience with manufacturing tools or equipment.
- Interest in developing long-term technical skills within engineering or maintenance disciplines.
