POSITION SUMMARY

Provide care to patients by assisting clinical staff in all patient rooming activities as directed by providers and supervised as duties require.  Tasks include chart preparation, rooming patients, performing procedures, and point of care testing as well as performing a variety of administrative duties as assigned. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will actively participate as a member of the healthcare team, in a single practice or specialty, to engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of patient care. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent required. 
  2. Completion of a medical assistant program or other clinical training program.   
  3. Training as an  emergency medical  technician or paramedic preferred

Experience:

  1. Healthcare experience preferred.  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of medical practice and patient care, medical equipment and instruments and procedures.  
  2. Knowledge of physician office procedures, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.   
  3. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.  
  4. Ability to take vital signs and record and maintain test results.  
  5. Ability to record data accurately using a computer.  
  6. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 

License/Certification/Registration:

  1. Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
