Expert Equipment Technician

Trinity Rail is hiring for Maintenance and Repair Technician at our Jonesboro plant.

The Expert Equipment Technician position is a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who doesn’t stray away from a challenge.  In this role you will use blueprints, schematics, small/power tools and electronic test equipment to perform a variety of maintenance tasks and determine causes of operating problems in areas including but not limited to plumbing, electrical systems/components, HVAC, carpentry, electrical fixtures/switches/power sources and mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

What you’ll do:

·       Troubleshoots breakdowns on production equipment and mechanical components

·       Performs complex repairs on production equipment motors and mechanical components including basic pneumatics and hydraulics

·       Must be able to wire electrical cabinets.  Troubleshoots electrical problems, performs preventative maintenance and testing on electrical wiring and components

·       Must be able to install equipment from the ground up, break down and repair/build.

·       Performs preventative maintenance and electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs to production and mechanical equipment, machinery and components.

·       Determines causes of operating problems, consults schematics and orders replacement parts. Performs high voltage electrical repairs (e.g. controls, relays). 

·       Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using electrical and electronic test equipment. 

·       Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies production electronic components, parts, switch panels etc. 

·       May test new equipment, troubleshoots operation, and makes minor adjustments to equipment.

·       Maintains and completes all required records.

What you’ll need:

·       High school diploma or a GED equivalent

·       Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience

·       The ability to read blueprints

·       May require working above ground (15 ft. or more)

·       Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights.

·       May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time

·       Perform other duties as assigned
