The City of Jonesboro’s Civil Service Commission will be testing for the position of firefighter for the Jonesboro Fire Department. Written exams will be held on Wednesday July 22, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. at St. Bernards Auditorium located at 505 East Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72401.Â
Individuals who pass the written exam with a minimum score of 75% will be required to pass a physical agility test that will be held on Saturday July 25, 2026, at 8:00 A.M. at Fire Station 1, 3215 East Johnson Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72405.Â
* Picture I.D. will be checked prior to the written exam and the physical agility test.Â
* Extra points are given for having EMT, Firefighter II and Active or Honorable Discharged Military Service, documents must be attached to application to receive the points.Â
Persons interested in a firefighter position must meet these minimum qualifications:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Have High School Diploma or GEDÂ
- Have arrived at the minimum age of 18 at the time of testing.
- Have not reached the maximum age of 35 at the time of hiring but exceptions available for experience as a paid firefighter.Â
- Have No Felony Convictions
- Have Valid Driver’s LicenseÂ
Applications can be completed online at the City of Jonesboro website (https://www.jonesboroar.gov) or filled out at 300 S Church St. Ste. 100, Human Resources Department.Â
Applications must be received by 5:00 P.M., Monday June 29, 2026.

- Copy of your current Driver’s License
- Documentation if you have any of the following- EMT, Firefighter II or Active/Honorable Discharged Military Service.Â
Candidates who pass the written exam and the physical agility test will be subject to an oral interview, drug screen, medical exam and a comprehensive background check including a polygraph test as positions become available. Applicants will be notified.
