Overview

This position is responsible for the direction of the Maintenance Department operations for all shifts.  This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily supervision of assigned shift personnel, including recommendations for hiring and terminations, maintenance of shift performance appraisal documentation, reprimands, recommendations for discipline and wage adjustments, etc., ensures company policy and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for building mechanical plant operations during shift; ensures that equipment operating procedures are correctly followed; takes any actions necessary to maintain operating plant, equipment, or personnel safety during assigned shifts.
  • Responsible for general building structure and equipment operation, maintenance, and repair, including but not limited to air conditioning units, refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen equipment, furnishings, fixtures, elevators and fire protection systems.
  • Ensure that building environmental and comfort standards are maintained.
  • Conduct continuing training programs for shift personnel concerning equipment operation, maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain all required logs and shift documentation.
  • Responds to building emergencies as per established procedures; responsible for knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and ensures that shift personnel have knowledge of the same; follows established procedures in reporting potential hazard areas.
  • Responsible for Maintenance Department in the absence of the Facilities Manager/Director of Facilities.
  • Ensure that building operating status, shift emergencies, and any other pertinent engineering operating information is properly transmitted to the Lead Technicians and if appropriate, to other Engineering personnel.
  • Uses personal protective safety equipment as required.
  • Drives a safe culture within the team.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, crowds, smoke, and vibration. Incumbents are at times subjected to hazards such as the dangers associated with the use of basic hand and power tools and testing equipment.
  • This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided.
  • Observe and direct actions of subordinates.
  • Inspect and maintain areas for which responsible.
  • Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Complete knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, boilers, chillers, and emergency generator system.
  • Knowledge of general repairs and safety procedures.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum of three years’ experience in Engineering operations (preferably in the Hotel/Resort Industry) and/or through a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field and one year experience in a supervisory capacity.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

 

Basic math skills.

 

Language Skills:

 

Must be able to speak and understand English.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
