Relief Nursery Therapeutic Early Childhood Teacher (Bilingual English/Spanish Required)

Family Building Blocks is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Relief Nursery Therapeutic Early Childhood Teacher to join our team at Doris's Place in Stayton, Oregon, serving children and families throughout the surrounding communities.

This is a bilingual English/Spanish position. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages to support the diverse families served by our program.

Pay & Benefits

This position offers a competitive starting wage of $20.88 to $22.15 per hour, depending on experience. Employees who meet the bilingual language requirement are eligible for language differential pay.

Position Summary

As a Relief Nursery Early ChildhoodEducation Teacher, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary teaching team to provide high-quality, research-based early childhood services that support the healthy development of young children and strengthen family relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate classroom activities and lesson plans.
  • Create engaging learning environments that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Maintain classroom schedules, documentation, assessments, and referrals as needed.
  • Utilize therapeutic and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to promote skill development and school readiness.
  • Monitor and assess children's progress and support successful transitions to preschool, Head Start, community childcare programs, and kindergarten.
  • Conduct home visits to support families and strengthen parent-child relationships.
  • Help parents build positive home environments that support their children's physical, emotional, and developmental well-being.
  • Connect families with community resources and support services when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and partner agencies to ensure comprehensive support for children and caregivers.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • Associate degree (AA/AS) from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; or
  • Step 9 or higher on the Oregon Registry; or
  • Completion of 15 quarter credits or 10 semester credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Special Education from an accredited institution, along with a commitment to complete a professional development plan within the first year of employment.

Additional requirements include:

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with children, families, community partners, and staff.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of qualifying teaching experience in a certified childcare center or comparable group care setting serving infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
  • Ability to successfully pass required background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
