What You'll Do
The Electrical Engineering Co-Op supports the Electrical Engineering team by assisting with electrical, automation, instrumentation, and process control projects that improve plant performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Assist Electrical Engineers with capital projects, including project planning, equipment selection, installation support, and startup activities
- Support electrical and automation projects by collecting field data, updating documentation, and assisting with project coordination and execution
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues to improve equipment reliability and plant performance
- Support process control initiatives by monitoring system performance, collecting operational data, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Assist with updating electrical drawings, equipment records, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to support plant improvement projects
- Support safety and environmental initiatives that protect employees, equipment, and the environment
- Develop reports, recommendations, and presentations for engineering and plant leadership
Required Qualifications
- Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 2.75 GPA
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Interest in electrical power systems, automation, instrumentation, PLCs, and process control systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite to maintain regular attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or project experience involving electrical power systems, automation, instrumentation, PLC programming, or process controls
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting, circuit design, or industrial control systems
- Familiarity with reading electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
- Interest in manufacturing, mining, heavy industrial operations, or industrial automation
- Experience analyzing operational or engineering data to support problem solving and decision making
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
