Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to walk alongside patients recovering from opioid and other substance use disorders. Through individual sessions, group counseling, and personalized treatment planning, you'll help build a safe, steady foundation for people at the start of their recovery journey — in an outpatient setting much like a behavioral health clinic.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Thrives in a consistent, outpatient schedule
  • Is passionate about serving diverse communities, including clients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Wants ongoing clinical growth — CMS supports your path to full licensure and CAADC certification if you're not there yet

What You'll Do

  • Manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions and facilitate group and educational sessions
  • Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness on an ongoing basis and adjust care plans as needed
  • Coordinate care with other providers and community-based services, including referrals and case management documentation
  • Involve family and natural supports in treatment, per each client's preference
  • Maintain thorough, compliant client records

(Full list of responsibilities shared during the interview process.)

Benefits

  • Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health savings account
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid sick, vacation, and holiday time
  • 401(k) retirement plan with match
  • Tuition and CME reimbursement up to 100%
  • Employee assistance program for mental health and wellness
  • Ongoing professional development

Requirements

  What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work
  • Licensure (or limited license) as an LPC, LMFT, LMSW, or LCSW
  • CAADC certification — if you don't already have it, we'll support a development plan to help you get there
  • Clinical supervision is available to support your path toward full licensure and certification
