This position is designed for a highly skilled and respected driver who takes pride in safety, and serves as the primary safety gatekeeper for staff and the yard. Ensuring every vehicle and driver meets operational and safety standards before departure and upon return.  Assist with roll out, guiding and assisting drivers to prevent tail swing and side swipe accidents in the bus yard.  We are looking for a valued team member who demonstrates leadership, flexibility, who will coach drivers on safety protocols to keep our most valuable assets safe…. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced school bus driver who enjoys mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and playing a key role in strengthening our Safety Culture.  QualificationsResponsibilities: Advocates for the Safety Department.  Conduct daily “Safety Walk Through”, shovel snow off side walks, salt walkways and steps, ensure lot is plowed and salted.  Must be completed before any employee arrives to work. Conduct daily "gate checks" to verify that drivers have completed their pre-trip inspections and that DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) are accurate. Assist with morning and afternoon roll out, guiding and assisting drivers in and out of parking spaces to prevent side swipe and tail swing accidents in the yard. Incident Management: Document any "near misses" or lot damage and report directly to the Safety Department.  Develop programs and implement to prevent further issues from occurring in conjunction with the safety department. Monitor driver behavior in the yard (speeding, seatbelt use, PPE compliance) and provide real-time, constructive coaching to reinforce safety culture. Assist in maintaining "Ready-to-Roll" status for the fleet, ensuring fire extinguishers are charged, triangles are present, and registration/insurance cards are current in every unit. Flexibility to support urgent or time-sensitive asset movement requirements Support in Dispatch with administrative tasks during down time. Ensure the lot is clear of debris (potential tire hazards) and that vehicles are parked in assigned lanes to optimize traffic flow and minimize backing incidents. Work with Operations Supervisors for buses that require clean up from previous shifts work.  Work with the Leadership Team to support in clean buses and bus washing to increase the Drivergents image. Support overall safety initiatives at the location. Qualifications & Experience: Valid Class B (or higher) with appropriate endorsements (P & S). Valid DOT, and RESA cards. Minimum 2 years of school bus or commercial driving experience. Clean driver record with no preventable collisions or moving violations in past three (3) years. Strong communication, mentoring, and coaching abilities. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence. Must meet the physical requirements of the job, walking, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50lbs. Availability Expectations: Must demonstrate flexibility and availability based on operational and training demands. Availability of 4 hrs per day (20 hrs/week) Lot Supervisor. Availability Route Driver 3 hrs per day (15 hrs/week). Availability Monday through Friday. Potential availability on weekends based on operational and training needs.
