Job Overview:
R B Hinkle Construction Inc. is seeking a skilled and reliable CDL Class A or B Driver to operate various heavy vehicles for construction projects in Sterling, Virginia. This role involves safely transporting materials and equipment to and from job sites, adhering to all traffic laws and company regulations.
Job Responsibilities-
- Operate and maintain CDL Class A or B vehicles, including dump trucks, flatbeds, and other heavy equipment, as assigned.
- Safely transport materials such as asphalt, aggregate, dirt, and construction equipment to and from various job sites in the Sterling, Virginia area.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring all components are in good working order and reporting any defects or malfunctions.
- Load and unload materials and equipment, utilizing appropriate securement methods to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including hours of service (HOS) rules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, project managers, and other team members.
- Assist with other general labor duties on job sites as needed, when not actively driving.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle cab.
Job Qualifications-
- Valid CDL Class A or B driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy construction vehicles.
- Knowledge of local and state traffic laws and DOT regulations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and climbing, as required for loading/unloading and vehicle maintenance.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with construction site environments and procedures is a plus.
