The University Centers Payroll Coordinator (UCPC) is responsible for verifying the student payroll for approximately 200 student employees and is responsible for initiating and maintaining all payroll and personnel records for University Centers student employees. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy. The University Centers Payroll Coordinator works directly with all area full-time and student supervisors on payroll and human resource matters. Â
Duties may include:Â
Meeting with all newly hired employees to complete and process personnel payroll paperwork. Â
Compiling and processing longevity and training pay increases. Â
Maintaining personnel and computer files for current and past employees in UCPC workbooks. Â
Off-boarding student employees upon departure.Â
Working with Excel spreadsheet daily to update student employee status, wages, etc.  Â
Assisting the UCSEC and University Centers Administration staff with special projects. Â
Training the UCSEC on summer payroll management if needed. Â
Training student managers and full-time supervisors on payroll procedures. Â
Assembling a list of all returning student employees and giving it to the Director to verify status of GPA requirement for each employee as part of the pre-employment process and at the beginning of each semester. Â
Attending Supervisory Staff Orientation and acting as the notetaker for all Supervisory Staff meetings. Â
Co-facilitating mandatory pre-semester training (August and January) with Student Supervisory Staff.Â
Other duties as assigned.Â
This position reports to the Director of the University Centers. They work directly with the UC Student Employment Coordinator (UCSEC) and the Human Resources Office.Â
This position will onboard with the existing Payroll Coordinator this semester and then will take over the position fully in Fall 2026.Â
CompensationÂ
$13.50/hourÂ
The University Centers Student Employment Program Wage Classification Scale classifies this position as Division III, Range I.Â

Required QualificationsÂ
Applicants must be available to work between 12-15 hours per week during the semester, maintain regular office hours. The UCPC must also attend a SuperStaff retreat once a semester, in addition to monthly mandatory SuperStaff meetings. Some work over breaks may be necessary.Â
The UCPC must be able to work without direct supervision.Â
Students applying for this position must pass a Criminal Background Check initiated by the University Centers.Â
Demonstrated organizational and administrative management skills.Â

Preferred QualificationsÂ
Students applying for this position should be knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel. Some existing knowledge of University Centers operations and policies is preferred. Â
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with at least two semesters remaining at UWSP.Â
Preference may be given to employees with previous work experience within the University Centers.Â
EducationÂ
The UCPC must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.Â
