Job Duties:

This full-time tenure-track position will include teaching applied clarinet, music theory, and other duties assigned by the chair. The selected candidate will participate in recruitment, retention and advising and be an integral part of a vibrant, collegial department.

The Department of Music is housed on the UWSP campus in the state-of-the-art Noel Fine Arts Center, built in 2004. Twenty-eight faculty and staff comprise the department, eighteen of which are full-time appointments.  The department has a strong commitment to music education, with a full array of performing ensembles (bands, orchestras, choirs, opera, jazz ensembles, chamber music), and offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Performance, and Jazz Studies, and the Master of Music Education. Compensation:

$55,000, minimum, based on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be a strong classical performer and a proven teacher.  

  • Doctorate in music or minimum Master’s degree in music with 4 years of college teaching experience and active professional performance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DMA (Clarinet Performance)

  • University teaching experience

  • Degree or certificate/cognate/minor in music theory.
