The Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program provides visionary and strategic leadership for a program grounded in community engagement and rural health access. The Director oversees all aspects of program administration, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment and mentorship, accreditation compliance, and budget management. This role ensures the program’s alignment with the mission of UWSP and the standards of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), fostering an inclusive learning environment that prepares graduates for evidence-based, person-centered practice. The Program Director represents the program within the university and professional community and promotes innovation in teaching, scholarship, and clinical partnerships.

Minimum $140,000 based on education and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Physical therapist with an active unencumbered license in Wisconsin or license eligible in the state of Wisconsin (must be licensed in WI within 6 months of hire). 
  • Earned academic doctoral degree with a minimum of 6 years of full-time equivalent experience with at least 3 years of service as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited physical therapist education program
  • Rank of associate or full professor or eligible for rank of associate professor at the point of hire (tenure review contingent with hire).  Experience or professional development in educational administration, management and leadership.  A demonstrated commitment to competency-based and community-engaged learning, with a vision to prepare physical therapists as primary care providers meeting the needs of rural communities in Wisconsin and across the nation
  • Familiarity with CAPTE accreditation requirements and/or experience with other accreditation and regulatory agencies. 
  • A record of professional and institutional service.   
  • Effective leadership and management skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative, innovative, and energetic faculty team
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as an educator in an entry-level CAPTE accredited DPT program. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership experience in an entry-level DPT program; committee leadership within an accredited program may demonstrate this expectation
  • Direct experience with competency-based education design or implementation
  • A background in strategic planning, program development and team building
  • A record of recent scholarly activity consistent with a tenure eligible faculty member
  • Experience with residency education, ideally in an ABPTRFE-recognized program

Terms of Employment:

This is an annual tenure-track faculty position.
