About the Position

The Lead Cook plays an important role in keeping daily kitchen operations running smoothly. You will help lead the kitchen team while assisting with the preparation and service of meals. This position requires someone who can follow instructions, work well with others, and take pride in maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.

Responsibilities Include

  • Lead, train, and assist kitchen staff with daily tasks
  • Prepare, bake, and cook meals according to company recipes
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen
  • Assist with kitchen clean-up and other daily duties
  • Work effectively within a structured correctional facility

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and written instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Dependable and able to work well as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts between 8:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance approval to enter the facility

Don't have previous correctional food service experience? That's okay! Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but Tigg's Canteen Services is willing to train the right person who has the right attitude, work ethic, and desire to succeed.
