The Water Mitigation Technician is responsible for responding to water damage emergencies, performing mitigation services, protecting property and contents, and assisting with the restoration process. The technician works directly with customers and must complete all work safely, efficiently, and according to company procedures and industry standards.  Technicians are expected to arrive on time, maintain professional appearance and conduct, complete assigned work efficiently, properly document every job, protect customer property, and communicate any issues or changes to management immediately.  This position is primarily field-based and requires travel to residential and commercial properties. Work may involve exposure to water-damaged materials, smoke odors, dust, mold-affected areas, cleaning chemicals, and other restoration-related conditions. Appropriate PPE and safety procedures must always be followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to residential and commercial water damage losses.
  • Inspect affected areas and identify the source and extent of water damage.
  • Perform water extraction, demolition, cleaning, and drying activities.
  • Set up, monitor, and remove air movers, dehumidifiers, and other drying equipment.
  • Take moisture readings and document drying progress.
  • Remove and dispose of damaged materials as directed.
  • Pack, move, protect, and inventory contents when necessary.
  • Photograph and document job-site conditions and completed work.
  • Maintain accurate job notes, equipment records, moisture maps, and daily documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property owners, adjusters, and management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Load, unload, clean, and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow OSHA, company safety procedures, and applicable restoration industry standards.
  • Assist with mold remediation, fire/smoke cleanup, and other restoration services as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency losses when scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Previous water mitigation or restoration experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background, drug, and employment screenings.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move heavy equipment and household contents.
  • Ability to work in wet, dirty, hot, cold, and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IICRC certifications such as WRT are preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, and work in confined areas.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency calls when required.

Hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch) and rotating ON-CALL schedule
