The Accountant I, reports to the Assistant Controller. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of GL general journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with internal controls at all times. Investigates financial activity which originates in other departments, such as patient billing, pharmacy, clinic front/back-office area, and purchasing department. Performs moderately complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions Prepares drafts of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial, budget, forecast and statistical reports, incorporating financial controls and regulatory guidelines Maintains detailed work-papers to support general ledger May involve occasional day travel to clinic sites to conduct meetings Demonstrate “super-user” proficiencies in use of Dynamics accounting system Participates in preparation of UDS, OSHPD and annual financial and other audits Perform other duties as assigned QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting/Finance required                         1 year experience in an Accounting or Finance setting preferred Intermediate to advanced MS Excel knowledge/skills Basic to intermediate financial analytical skills One year of Federally Qualified Health Center or similar experience is preferred Experience w/ computerized accounting and medical or dental billing systems preferred Knowledge of clinic operations is preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) Knowledge of healthcare accounting and finance is preferred Knowledge of computer accounting software Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with attention to detail Ability to work independently, with minimal guidance Ability to work effectively with coworkers Ability to communicate effectively and clearly Ability to provide excellent customer service that is reflective of a culture that values trust and respect TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May require sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn to work. Must have finger dexterity to operate calculator and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients, funders and staff. Must have vision that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment within a clinic setting. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with upset people.
