Position Overview:

The Driver support role assists the skilled nursing facility by ensuring safe, timely, and courteous transport of residents, supplies, and facility-related needs. This position emphasizes resident safety, dignity, and compliance with California Skilled Nursing Facility regulations. Whether operating a vehicle or escorting residents within the facility, the role requires adherence to facility policies, professionalism, and confidentiality while supporting the overall care and daily operations of the facility.

Transport residents safely to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, dialysis, hospital discharges, dining, activities, and other approved locations, either on-site or off-site.
Assist residents entering/exiting vehicles and using mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices, following facility training and safety protocols.
Ensure residents are properly secured with seatbelts, mobility restraints, or safety equipment during transport.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (e.g., brakes, lights, tires, wheelchair lifts, fuel levels).
Operate facility vehicles in compliance with California Vehicle Code, DMV regulations, and facility policies.
Observe residents for signs of discomfort or distress and report concerns to nursing staff immediately.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid California Driver’s License (for drivers) with a clean driving record.
At least 6 months of experience driving or providing resident transport in a healthcare, long-term care, or senior care setting.
