Offbearer

Stockton, CA

 

Compensation Includes

  • Starting pay rate of $25.06/hour - paid weekly

Shifts Available

  • 2nd: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • 3rd: 11:00pm - 7:30pm
  • Monday - Friday, Saturdays as needed

Responsibilities

  • Picks up the required lanes of cut and printed blanks from the press delivery table
  • During normal job duties inspects for obvious cutting or printing defects. Notifies operator when defects are present
  • Stacks blanks on a pallet to the required height
  • Wraps full pallet with stretch wrap and places completed load tag on the pallet
  • Moves full pallets of blanks with manual pallet jack or electric pallet jack to material handling staging area
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Assists with the Make Ready per make ready process documentation
  • Assist with machine maintenance and cleaning
  • When inspector is performing required documentation, the off bearer is required to catch the entire table for short periods of time
  • Works as directed by his/her senior
  • Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision such as strapping loads, emptying bids or stacking empty pallets

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment helpful but not necessary          
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: No special math skills required. Needs to be able to count
  • MECHANICAL SKILLS: Basic knowledge of machinery and common tools is necessary
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must be able to read and write. Needs to be able to communicate quality problems to the operator and/or supervisor

  • REASONING ABILITIY: Must be able to understand machine specific operating instructions and processes. This is necessary to ensure quality standards are met and the employee’s own personal safety is maintained (as well as the safety of co-workers)

  • Employee is required to stand while performing the essential duties of this job.
  • Pile down handfuls of blanks weighing between 10 and 20 pounds on a consistent basis
  • Requires hand and finger dexterity to keep pace with the speed of the press as it produces blanks
  • Repetitive movement of hands, fingers, arms and shoulders
  • Repetitive twisting
  • Frequent bending to stack blanks on a pallet
  • Lift and handle press equipment dies weighing up to 100 pounds with the assistance of other members of the press crew on an occasional basis
  • Lift and carry 5-gallon ink pails weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Assist in lifting cylinders weighing up to 150 pounds using mechanical hoists on an occasional basis
  • Assist in lifting press rollers and stripper shells weighing up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis with help from the press crew

  • Normal indoor conditions with the exception of summer months when heat become a factor
  • Hearing protection required as machinery noise is commonly in the 80-95 dBA range
  • Daily exposure to nuisance paper dust, ink, hydraulic fluid, machine oil, grease and occasional fumes and vapors such as ammonia, alcohol, combustion gases
  • Safety shoes and safety glasses, hair nets & beard nets are required in manufacturing areas
