Major ResponsibilitiesĀ Ā 

  • Execute a wide range of technical tasks—including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, generator repair, and resolution of complex issues—while managing sensitive technical interactions with customers and contractors.Ā 

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.Ā 

  • Act as the first-line technical resource for technicians.Ā 

  • Work directly with the operation & commissioning coordinators on scheduling and start-up activities to ensure all Key Performance Indicators are achieved.Ā 

  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.Ā 

  • Support special engineering projects forĀ new salesĀ and project management.Ā 

  • Coordinate activities between the field and parts department for all daily and emergency activities.Ā 

  • Stay current onĀ National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.Ā 

  • Perform quality assurance and quality control for theĀ businessĀ by conducting on-site audits for safety and procedural compliance.Ā 

  • AssistĀ in training Industrial and MPS technicians on proper start-up techniques.Ā Ā 

  • Supervise, train, assist, and mentorĀ technicians to the highest standard,Ā providingĀ an example to follow in all situations,Ā providingĀ guidance toward higher certification levelsĀ 

  • Provide phone support for team members during and after normal business hoursĀ 

  • Manage fleet requirements, the Generac certification status and safety needs for all field technicians.Ā 

  • Escalate all disciplinary,Ā safetyĀ and positive concerns to theĀ appropriate manager.Ā 

  • ConductĀ performanceĀ management of all level technicians.Ā 

  • Review and approve Timecards and PTO.Ā 

Minimum Job RequirementsĀ 

EducationĀ 

  • High School DiplomaĀ 

Certification / LicenseĀ 

  • Valid Driver LicenseĀ 

  • Generac Industrial certificationĀ 

Work ExperienceĀ 

  • 8 years in advanced troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)Ā Ā 

  • 2 years’ experience mentoring and leading techniciansĀ 

Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesĀ 

  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagramsĀ 

  • Advanced knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.Ā 

  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating productsĀ 

  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous enginesĀ Ā Ā 

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.Ā Ā 

  • Working knowledge of transfer switch operationsĀ Ā 

  • Ability to obtain andĀ maintainĀ Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series coursesĀ 

  • Spark Ignited knowledgeĀ 

  • Ability to work and communicate well with othersĀ 

  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hoursĀ 

  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe andĀ timelyĀ mannerĀ

Compensation: Energy Systems is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Target compensation is $42-$54 an hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives. While performing the duties of this job, the employeeĀ is regularly required toĀ stand. The employee isĀ frequentlyĀ required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear. The employeeĀ is regularly required toĀ walk, stoop, crouch,Ā bendĀ and reach above shoulders. The employee mustĀ frequentlyĀ lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds withĀ assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts. The employee mustĀ comply withĀ the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection,Ā appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.Ā The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis.Ā
