Job Title: Night Auditor

Reports To: Front Office Manager / Rooms Division Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Overnight Shift (Typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM), including weekends and holidays.
Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while performing nightly accounting and front desk duties. This position ensures all daily financial transactions are accurately balanced, guest requests are handled professionally, and the property is secure during overnight hours. The Night Auditor serves as the primary hotel representative during the overnight shift and is expected to maintain a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment for guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Perform guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, questions, and concerns.
- Resolve guest issues or escalate them to management when necessary.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
Night Audit & Accounting
- Perform nightly audit procedures and reconcile daily financial transactions.
- Balance cash drawers, credit card transactions, and other payment methods.
- Verify room rates, postings, and charges for accuracy.
- Generate and distribute daily operational and financial reports.
- Close out the business day in the Property Management System (PMS).
- Identify and report discrepancies in financial records.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with hotel policies.
Operations
- Monitor hotel security during overnight hours.
- Conduct routine property walks to ensure guest safety and building security.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies following hotel procedures.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and security as needed.
- Prepare reports for the morning shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous hotel front desk or customer service experience preferred.
- Prior Night Audit experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping knowledge is an asset.
- Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions
- Overnight schedule in a hotel environment.
- Frequent interaction with guests, visitors, and team members.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional emergency situations.
- May be required to work alone during portions of the shift.
