At JBT Marel, we’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our forward-thinking, innovative team and help us deliver world-class solutions.

The role of our Manufacturing Engineer is to plan, design, arrange, change, and optimize manufacturing processes. This position will create, develop, document, and implement procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture the products of A&B Process Systems. With the use of ERP (enterprise resource planning) software JDE analyze material and labor burden costs, perform or  make vs buy exercise, recommend new equipment. Facilitate the request for capital expenditure projects, complete ROI analysis. This position is also responsible for providing leadership through RCI (Relentless Continuous Improvement) and safety and vision of the Manufacturing Engineering department. The Manufacturing Engineer  will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
Among other tasks, here’s what you’ll be doing as Manufacturing Engineer:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, document and standardize manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
- Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials.
- Analyze, recommend, and implement manufacturing process flows for enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Research and recommend equipment needs and arrangement to ensure efficient and effective production methods.
- Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.
- Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environment.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provide engineering support in production departments to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Analyze product failure data and test results to determine root cause and develop solutions.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Perform functions such as preparing proposals and budgets, analyzing labor costs, and writing reports.
- Establish welding procedures, techniques, and applications of welding equipment appropriate for production specifications, properties and characteristics of metal and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
- Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, and fabrication methods.
- Evaluates new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding issues and production processes.
- Facilitate and lead continuous improvement initiatives resulting in increased throughput and/or decreased cost while maintaining or enhancing overall plant effectiveness.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with all applicable regulations.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
What kind of person are you?
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering with 5 – 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience required; preferably in an engineer to order environment. Principles of fabrication and process integration required. 2+ years of experience creating fixtures and tooling for welded products and proficiency in creating standard operating procedures and work instructions preferred.
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints continuous improvement practices and a background in a stainless-steel fabrication industry a plus. AutoCAD and excellent facilitation/project management skills strongly preferred.
