Sauder internship programs are designed to run 10-12 weeks from May to August. We aim to provide valuable experiences for all interns and the departments they are assigned to. Each intern will take the lead on a project (or projects) for the summer and present to other interns, internship supervisors, and executives at the end of the summer.

This internship will be in our Stryker Ohio location.  

 

Position Summary:

As a member of the Product Development Team, a Product Development Intern at Sauder Manufacturing Co. functions as an integral part of a dynamic engineering and cross-functional team, in an environment that requires creativity, attention to detail, an open mind, and great communication skills.  This individual will be assigned a mentor during their time at SMC.  The Intern can expect to work in the engineering shop building prototypes as well as doing design work in SolidWorks.

 

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Preferred major: Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with machining/fabrication, welding, woodworking, and upholstery
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • CAD and SolidWorks experience is a plus.  
  • College Sophomore, Junior or Senior in Fall
  • Well versed in analytical problem solving
  • Organized, focused and logical
  • Learns quickly and works well in a team
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs and assignments
  • Come with self-motivation and a desire to get things done
  • Positive attitude and a healthy sense of humility

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit in meetings or at a computer for 2-3 hours at a time.  The employee will also be required to walk through the plants and engineering areas at various times during a typical week.  Use of hands and fingers will be required for writing, computer use, and phone use.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
