Responsible for patient billing pertinent to Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance, Palliative Care and Self-Pay as well as any documents associated with month-end reporting. Responsible for any documentation or verification associated with such payer sources.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School diploma.
  • At least three years of medical billing/Hospice experience preferred. 
  • Computer literacy required. Knowledge in FireNote EMRs preferred.
  • Attendance is a condition of employment.


Expectations

  • Work collaboratively with other staff members in the department as well as team members of all departments. Demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated in performing their daily job functions. Ability to communicate effectively with payer sources as well as patients and family members regarding billing inquiries.


Key Result Areas

 

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate electronic/paper submission of claims to the Medicare Intermediary, Medicaid Managed Care providers, private insurance companies as well as patients and family members regarding self-pay.


  • Responsible for any verification of payer sources regarding patients as needed.


  • Responsible for timely and accurate billing and receipt of accounts receivable. This includes reconciliation of any discrepancies with payer sources.


  • Responsible for preparation of monthly closing reports regarding the financial closing process.



  • Responsible for all other tasks assigned by Department Director as needed.


  • Participate as an active supporter of the organizations compliance program, including an emphasis to report, as well as complying with all Federal, State and Local laws as well as the organization’s compliance program. 


OSHA Category

 

Position will be categorized as category III (involves no routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids/tissues).

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. 
  • Sedentary – Exerting up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria met.
  • The work is required to have close visual acuity such as/preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
