KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Own the HSE strategy, policy, and annual objectives; develop and maintain the ISO 45001/14001 frameworks, risk registers, and internal audit cadence, corrective actions and management reviews.

· Ensure that systems and processes are in place to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including maintaining a legal register and assuring conformity with U.S.: OSHA, EPA, etc., Mexico: NOM, SEMARNAT, PROFEPA, and Canada: OHS, WHMIS, CSA, and environmental requirements.

· Manage and maintain all required permits, regulatory reporting, documentation, and audits across sites.

· Build and sustain ISO 45001/14001 systems, risk registers, internal audits, and management reviews; set HSE objectives and KPIs (TRIR, near‑miss, CAPA).

· Lead, conduct, and continually improve risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), verify their effectiveness through field validation, audits, and engagement with frontline employees.

· Provide environmental stewardship including hazardous chemical management (SDS/GHS/WHMIS), stormwater/retention pond oversight, spill control, waste classification and handling, oil‑water separator/evaporator operations, and recycling programs.

· Track and analyze HSE performance metrics (TRIR, near‑misses, audit findings, leading/lagging indicators) and drive continuous improvement through data‑driven actions.

· Lead Contractor Safety and Management‑of‑Change (MOC) programs; qualify contractors, issue permits, and oversee pre‑start safety reviews for equipment and process changes.

· Drive a strong safety culture through leadership, communication, and employee engagement to include training and engaging leaders and associates (bilingual where needed), fostering stop‑work authority, and leading gemba/kaizen for continuous improvement.

· Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective/preventive actions, and verify effectiveness.

· Train, coach, and engage supervisors and associates to strengthen accountability and hazard awareness.

· Identify trends and implement sustainable continuous improvement initiatives.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical), Public Health, or Business Administration with strong HSE credentials. (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) desirable.

Prior Experience:

· 7–10+ years HSE leadership in manufacturing, operations, or an industrial environment; success operating as a team of one in lean environments.

· Proven implementation and audit experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

· Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA, NOM/SEMARNAT/PROFEPA, and Canadian OHS/WHMIS/CSA.

· Expertise in risk assessment, confined space, LOTO, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machine guarding, and PIT safety.

· Strong communication, problem solving and training skills.
