We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team and ensure accurate, timely payroll processing for our Popeyes brand. This role requires prior payroll experience and the ability to manage high-volume, multi-state payroll operations. The Payroll Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring compliance, maintaining employee trust, and supporting our Field Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 5,000+ employees.

  • Validate payroll data, including hours worked, wage adjustments, new hires, terminations, and transfers.

  • Review and reconcile payroll reports for accuracy before final submission.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll policies.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage/hour laws.

  • Assist with year-end processes, including W-2s, tax filings, and audits.

  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive payroll information.

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Keep meticulous records of employee data (timesheets, pay rates, deductions).

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of payroll experience (high-volume, multi-state environment preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and tax regulations.

  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

  • Utilize ADP ( Vantage, or similar) to manage payroll processing, reporting, and employee records
  • Ability to manage deadlines and handle confidential information with integrity.

  • Strong Excel and reporting skills, with ability to analyze and audit data.

  • Experience in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry is a plus.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required! 

 

This position is based in a professional office setting. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively in person and electronically, and work both independently and as part of a team. Occasional lifting of files and office supplies (up to 20 lbs.) may be required. 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with standard working hours, typically M-F, 8AM to 5 PM
  • May require additional hours during peak periods such as month-end and year-end close.

Ability to work/commute/relocate to the Sugar Land, TX office:

  • This is an in-office role, with little to no remote work options.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • You must have the ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
