Conair, part of the PiovanGroup, is a leading producer of auxiliary equipment for the plastics processing industry. Position: Metal Fabrication Technician

Location: Franklin, PA


Role

The Metal Fabrication Technician is responsible for precisely cutting and shaping metal using a variety of fabrication machines, tools and techniques. Other abilities include attention to detail, general understanding of fabrication processes and ability to read and understand blueprints while maintaining safety standards within a manufacturing environment.  This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is located in our assembly plant in Franklin, Pennsylvania. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • General ability to Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine final part requirements.
  • Select appropriate metal materials and equipment based on project specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and form metal materials using tools such as press brake, rolls, shears, saws, punches, and drills.
  • Operate manual and automated machinery.
  • Conduct simple quality checks to ensure finished products meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
  • Work with the production order process and inventory transfers required in SAP.

Requirements

  • Prior experience of 2 years or more in metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances. 
  • General problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with industry standards.
