QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
Experience/Skills
- Two years experience in physician’s office or related experience (preferred, but not required).
- Background in medical-surgical nursing and immunizations
- Knowledge of clinic function
- Ability to work in conjunction with other clinic personnel
- Knowledge of community health resources for alternate health services
- Knowledge of community health nursing principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written reports
Required Licenses/Certifications
- LPN Licensure in the State of Indiana
- CPR

ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Conducting patient assessments over the phone by asking detailed questions about symptoms & medical history.
- Utilizing critical thinking skills to determine the appropriate level of care needed.
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of common medical conditions.
- Provide medical advice based on the assessment.
- Directing patients to the right healthcare provider or service.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of each call.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and empathy towards patients.
- Updates the patient’s medical and social history, as appropriate.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications.
- Accurately documenting all patient interactions including symptoms, advice given, and follow up plans in the electronic medical record.
- Schedules patients for further testing as directed by the Provider.
- Secures appointment date and time from specialty referral as directed by the Provider.
- Phones in prescription refills as directed by the Practitioner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
Clinic Responsibilities
- Records all phone conversations and information given to the patient in the medical record to provide for clear communication among all clinic staff.
- Provide medical advice based on established protocols.
- Communicating patient concerns and relevant information to the appropriate healthcare provider for further evaluation or treatment.
- Processing prescription refills as directed by the physician.
- Contact patients to discuss the results of laboratory test or imaging studies.
- Identifying situations that require immediate medical attention and directing patients to the appropriate emergency care facility.
- Participate in professional development and assume responsibility for keeping knowledge of skills current.
- During downtime we utilize time wisely by assisting with clinic buckets in the EMR.
Office Responsibilities
- Answers telephone calls in a professional manner and refers patient problems to Practitioner.
- Exhibits ability to prioritize and organize work.
- Follows through on assigned tasks.
- Knowledgeable of and compliant with clinic policies and procedures.
- Exhibits cooperation and positive attitude and maintains a good working relationship with all clinic staff.
- Completes incident reports and forwards to Practitioner when appropriate.
Full time/Day shift
80 hours/Biweekly
