Overview

The Undercarriage Technician will utilize appropriate computerized systems and tools to inspect and accurately quote customer machine undercarriages repairs. The Specialist will work closely with all Product Support Sales Reps to increase Blanchard’s undercarriage business.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Achieve incremental undercarriage sales with a heavy focus in the retail/small core customer space.
  • Streamline the quoting process for undercarriage services.
  • Additional focus will be on selling to existing customers currently using aftermarket will-fit parts.
  • Support Product Support Sales Reps in targeting identified unrecognized undercarriage opportunity.
  • Become Blanchard Machinery’s undercarriage expert.
  • Use software tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, CAT Inspect, CTS) to analyze data, create recommendations, and propose solutions and quotes to customers.
  • Help manage and schedule equipment repairs with existing sales reps.
  • Perform regular undercarriage and machine inspections of customer assets to maximize product life expectancy, reducing product failures leading to lower owning and operating costs.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including recommendations and quotes for repairs or maintenance work.
  • Coordinate with management for undercarriage parts inventory via CPRO and other parts department forecasting tools.
  • Always represent Blanchard Machinery Company in a professional image.
  • This position requires statewide travel.
  • Performance Measures:

    • Grow undercarriage parts sales by 10% Year Over Year.
    • Provide reliable and precise provision of undercarriage services with a commitment to consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or related field.
  • Sense of urgency to always achieve high customer satisfaction.
  • Positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Knowledge of heavy construction equipment, preferably in maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to drive to customer worksites and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to construction equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and business software tools

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
