TITLE: Controls Engineer

LOCATION: Bedford Park, IL (Argo Plant)

REPORTS TO:  Manager, Control System Engineering
Workplace Type: Onsite

Ingredion is seeking a Controls Engineer to maintain, enhance, and expand our DeltaV and Rockwell automation systems in support of production, quality, GMP, and safety goals. In this role, you will collaborate cross‑functionally from design through implementation, driving improved process performance and long-term control system reliability. 

 

What you will do:  

  • Identify and implement hardware, software, and process improvements to solve complex problems and optimize plant operations. 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using advanced data analysis, process modeling, standardized coding practices, and improved network design. 

  • Serve as Technical Lead for capital projects, delivering automation solutions that meet cost, schedule, and scope requirements while maximizing system performance. 

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies that strengthen plant operations and share best practices across teams and facilities. 

  • Document system changes in compliance with Management of Change (MOC), including PSM and validation requirements. 

  • Develop into a subject matter expert in control theory, automation strategies, and the specific control platforms used at the site. 

Who you are:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent experience in automation/controls. 

  • Strong working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, including DeltaV, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, AspenTech, and OPC. 

  • Experience applying programming or scripting to troubleshoot and solve challenges on the plant floor. 

  • Understanding of industrial network infrastructure; Cisco CCNP certification is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity principles, best practices, and risk mitigation. 

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, maintenance, and leadership.

Pay Range:

$84,400.00-$112,533.33 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
