LOCATION: Sumter, SC 

 


Overview:

The Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining controlled documentation to support quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements. This role ensures all documents follow defined review, approval, version control, and retention standards while supporting audits and inspections. The position works cross‑functionally to lead complex document workflows, maintain document management systems, and train internal teams on proper document control procedures, driving continuous improvement and system integrity across the organization.



Key Responsibilities

  • Process new and revised documents through review and approval workflows
  • Maintain version histories and track document change requests
  • Ensure adherence to formatting, metadata, and retention policies
  • Support quality assurance and compliance teams with audit documentation
  • Maintain the quality audit system database
  • Provide access to controlled documents and manage distribution lists
  • Train internal users on document procedures and submission guidelines
  • Lead complex document workflows and coordinate cross-departmental submissions
  • Maintain DMS system integrity and user access permissions
  • Review and approve formatting, compliance, and version control standards
  • Conduct document audits and support FDA, ISO, or client inspections
  • Recommend and implement improvements to document control procedures

 


Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • ISO internal auditor certification or equivalent preferred
  • 4+ years of document control or QA experience
  • Experience managing audit documentation and DMS configurations
