OVERVIEW:

The Packaging Technician is responsible for supporting the Logistics department to ensure materials and finished goods are packaged, labeled, staged, and prepared for storage or shipment in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


The Packaging Technician will work closely with Logistics, Production, Quality, and Shipping teams to support daily material flow, packaging preparation, inventory movement, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:


  • Package finished goods, raw materials, and components according to established work instructions, customer requirements, and safety standards. 
  • Inspect packaging materials and products prior to shipment to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications. 
  • Label, weigh, palletize, wrap, and stage materials for internal movement or outbound shipment. 
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by properly scanning, tracking, and documenting packaged materials within ERP or inventory systems. 
  • Support incoming and outgoing shipment preparation activities, including verification of quantities and packaging documentation. 
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and wrapping equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe packaging and staging areas in accordance with 5S and company housekeeping standards. 
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities as needed. 
  • Communicate material shortages, packaging discrepancies, damaged materials, or process concerns to leadership. 
  • Support logistics and production teams with material movement and packaging prioritization to meet production and customer delivery schedules. 
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental procedures. 
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives focused on packaging efficiency, waste reduction, organization, and process flow. 
  • Support startup operations and adapt to changing business needs within a growing manufacturing environment. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

 



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Previous experience in packaging, warehouse, logistics, shipping, or manufacturing environments preferred. 
  • Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment preferred. 
  • Basic computer skills and experience using inventory or ERP systems preferred. 
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, packaging specifications, and shipping documentation. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment. 




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly. 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. 
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse and material handling equipment. 
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment. 

 


 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


This position operates within a manufacturing and logistics environment and may require exposure to moving mechanical equipment, forklifts, production machinery, and warehouse traffic. Proper PPE must be worn at all times in designated areas.
