As an Electrical Engineer on the Wearable Team, you will design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer experiences within Meta’s Product Portfolio. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and potentially include mechanical, optical, firmware and software. We want people who work well in teams, can take a board definition and implement with electrical system development, and can transition these designs into a high-volume consumer products. We are looking for system or board level Electrical Engineers with experience in high volume consumer products or developing technology leading prototypes to inform Meta Reality Labs roadmap. Our team has experience in developing mixed domain high-speed and high power circuit boards, consumer product form factor design, troubleshooting at the board and system level, and should have familiarity with consumer product development processes. In the role you will be working with emerging technologies across the Wearable space with the opportunity to learn from the industry leaders and help Meta achieve its goal of helping people feel connected, anytime, anywhere

Responsibilities

  • Support the electrical system development, qualification and system integration from the concept phase to mass production
  • Design schematics, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentation
  • Manage hardware bringup and debug
  • Support manufacturing and assembly build. failure mode analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system level problem solving across the various project phases
  • Work closely with suppliers to influence their roadmap ensure their deliverables can match the product roadmap
  • Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade offs across electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, firmware and software


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, hardware engineering or related experience
  • Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence Or CAD or equivalent
  • Experience with use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
  • Experience working with one of these technologies: digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System
  • Effective communication, collaboration and partnership with colleagues, cross functional partners in evolving development environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience characterizing power consumption, battery run time, and battery charging/discharging curve at each NPI (New Product Introduction) build
  • Experience collecting power measurements for weekly Software builds and drive power consumption optimization cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated experiencing leading analog and power system architecture, charging architecture, chipset selection, and system integration for the battery powered product
  • Experience creating power models to estimate battery day of use, power circuit design, simulation, validation, and characterization across multiple products, ensuring their successful delivery
  • Proficiency in generating design documentation, perform schematic capture and power delivery network simulation both pre and post board layout, prototype bring-up, and design validation
  • Effective at root-cause analysis and problem solving technical issues during new product development and support in-field escalations
  • Experience working closely with CM/JDM (Contract Manufacturer / Joint Development Manufacturer) resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as industrial design, architecture, product design and supply chain
  • Experience evaluating and enabling innovative solutions for cost, size, efficiency, safety, and reliability
