What you'll do...
As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering at Sam’s Club, you will lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization responsible for delivering seamless, performant, and scalable Discovery (browse, search, recommendations) and Transaction (cart, checkout, payments) experiences across iOS, Android, and Web applications. You will partner closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams to build member-centric solutions that power millions of daily interactions across Sam’s Club digital platforms.
This role requires a strong blend of technical leadership, architectural vision, people management, and a passion for building exceptional commerce experiences. Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams across mobile (iOS/Android) and web platforms, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; conduct performance management and career development conversations.
- Drive engineering excellence through code quality, testing, documentation, and operational best practices.
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap for Discovery and Transaction capabilities, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
- Provide architectural direction for scalable, modular, and secure applications across platforms.
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and exceptional user experience.
- Collaborate with platform, backend, and data teams to integrate services such as search, personalization, cart management, order orchestration, and payment systems.
- Partner with Product Management and UX to refine requirements, set priorities, and deliver high-impact member experiences.
- Work closely with Data Science, Experimentation, and Analytics teams to optimize search relevance, personalization, and conversion funnels.
- Ensure cohesive user journeys across iOS, Android, and Web platforms.
- Champion automation, CI/CD, observability, and engineering productivity improvements.
- Establish KPIs & SLAs for system reliability, performance, and feature velocity.
- Drive incident response processes, root-cause analysis, and long-term preventative solutions

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
