Proofpoint is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead product strategy and execution for a critical area of our enterprise security platform. This leader will define product direction, translate customer and market needs into clear priorities, and partner across the organization to deliver differentiated customer value and measurable business outcomes.

The ideal candidate combines deep enterprise product management experience with strong business acumen, technical credibility, and a customer-first mindset. You have a track record of leading complex products, developing Product Managers, influencing senior stakeholders, and turning customer problems and market opportunities into successful product strategies.

In this role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to shape product strategy and roadmap priorities. You will engage directly with customers and the market, make thoughtful tradeoffs across customer, business, and technical needs, and ensure teams are aligned around the outcomes that matter most.

What You'll Do

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a key product area, aligned with broader company and platform objectives.
  • Lead and develop a team of Product Managers, fostering strong product practices, customer focus, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Design to translate product strategy into clear priorities and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations to support successful product launches, adoption, and growth.
  • Engage directly with customers and prospects to understand their challenges, validate product direction, and identify opportunities to deliver greater value.
  • Translate customer insights, market trends, competitive dynamics, and business priorities into product requirements, roadmap decisions, and investment recommendations.
  • Define and monitor product success metrics, using customer feedback, product analytics, and business performance to guide prioritization and continuous improvement.
  • Lead roadmap planning and communication, clearly articulating priorities, tradeoffs, dependencies, and expected outcomes to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Partner with go-to-market teams to develop positioning, enable field teams, and support customer adoption and commercial success.
  • Represent the product in customer meetings, executive briefings, analyst conversations, and other external engagements as appropriate.
  • Identify technology partnerships and ecosystem opportunities that can accelerate product capabilities and customer value.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of product management experience, including experience leading enterprise software products from strategy through execution and 3+ years managing Product Managers.
  • Proven experience defining and executing product strategy for complex enterprise software or cybersecurity products.
  • Demonstrated success leading products from strategy and discovery through development, launch, adoption, and ongoing optimization.
  • Experience managing and developing Product Managers while remaining actively engaged in product strategy and execution.
  • Strong ability to influence across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise customer needs, buying processes, and administrative workflows.
  • Strong strategic and product judgment, with the ability to balance customer needs, technical considerations, competitive dynamics, and commercial priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using customer feedback, market research, competitive insights, and product data to inform decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate product vision, strategy, priorities, tradeoffs, and outcomes to technical, business, and executive audiences.
  • Experience engaging directly with enterprise customers, partners, and other external stakeholders.
