About the role

  • Lyte is seeking a highly technical Field Applications Engineer to support customer engagements, demonstrations, and real-world deployments of our Physical AI perception platform. This role sits at the intersection of robotics systems, perception software, sensors, and customer integration — combining deep technical ownership with direct customer interaction.
You will work hands-on with Lyte’s perception stack, demo systems, and reference platforms, supporting customer evaluations, pilots, and early deployments. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building, testing, and debugging complex systems, while also working closely with customer engineering teams to ensure successful adoption of Lyte’s technology.

What you'll do

  • Own technical execution of customer demos, evaluations, and proof-of-concept deployments.
  • Configure, deploy, and debug Lyte’s perception systems across hardware, firmware, and software layers.
  • Support customer integration efforts, including sensor placement, system bring-up, calibration, and performance validation.
  • Work directly with customer engineering teams to understand application requirements and tailor demo and evaluation setups accordingly.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues spanning perception algorithms, data pipelines, sensors, compute, and robotics platforms.
  • Capture detailed customer feedback from field deployments and communicate insights to product and engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain demo assets, reference configurations, and internal documentation used across customer engagements.
  • Travel to customer sites to support on-site demos, testing, and technical workshops as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience working with robotics systems, perception stacks, or autonomous platforms.
  • Strong systems-level understanding of robotics platforms that combine hardware, sensors, compute, and software.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for system bring-up, tooling, debugging, and analysis.
  • Experience working with Linux-based systems and modern development workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-disciplinary technical issues in fast-moving environments.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customer engineering teams.

Technical Focus Areas (Experience in Some Is Expected)

  • Robotics and autonomous systems (mobile robots, industrial robots, or similar platforms).
  • Perception systems including sensing, data pipelines, and algorithm performance evaluation.
  • Physical AI systems that bridge real-world sensing, decision-making, and action.
  • Sensor integration and validation (LiDAR, camera, radar, IMU, or related modalities).
  • System calibration, logging, and performance analysis in real-world environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS / ROS2.
  • Familiarity with perception algorithms, point cloud processing, or sensor fusion concepts.
  • Prior experience supporting demos, pilots, or early customer deployments of robotics or AI systems.
  • Comfortable working in lab, field, and customer environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer support and on-site engagements.

Benefits (subject to location and local regulations)

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
