Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires 3 years of experience in the following:
    • Performing measurements to validate that designs meet established safety design specifications

    • Systems architecture design or system-level design for product safety systems, testability and reliability,

    • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design for product safety.

    • Utilizing oscilloscopes, hi-pot testers, electronic loads, to validate safety compliance requirements

    • Obtaining international product safety approvals

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,900 - $189,000+ bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Position reports to the Google Sunnyvale, CA office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with hardware design teams and suppliers to understand new project architectures, and determine the appropriate safety standards and regulations
  • Apply hazard based safety engineering principles to evaluate the hazards, and provide feedback to the design team to mitigate those hazards
  • Develop test plans, lead a compliance testing team to extract key data to ensure all safety goals are met in accordance with relevant standards and specifications, and communicate and document findings, risks and recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and implement design improvements to further safety goals
  • Perform failure analysis of deployed products. Help in developing strategy and roadmap for Safety initiatives to support power, cooling and data center infrastructure.
