Imagine what you could do here! The people here at Apple don’t just create products — they build the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries. It’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. At Apple, inclusion is a shared responsibility, and we work together to foster a culture where everyone belongs and is inspired to do their best work. We’re a diverse collective of thinkers and doers, continuously reimagining our products and practices to help people do what they love in new ways. That innovation is inspired by a shared commitment to great work — and to each other. Because learning from the people here means we’re learning from the best. Retail Operations creates the tools and programs that empower our teams to provide, a one of a kind, only at Apple experience. We do this by obsessing over the employee and customer experience, and driving a global strategy that sets the bar. The Retail Technology, QA Engineering team owns quality standards, strategy and execution for customer facing interactive apps and systems. Our stack spans AV hardware, interactive players, device targeting logic, demo apps, content management systems, content bundles, SDKs and experience frameworks. We compose all of this into innovative, scaleable customer demo experiences worldwide.

Description

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to own quality across demo delivery pipelines to Apple Stores worldwide. You will design and drive automated coverage across OS-regression cycles, production and delivery pipelines, engineering toolchains and OTA distribution mechanisms for every major release. Deep partnership with cross-functional engineering teams is essential because this work sits at the intersection of Apple operating systems and store demo environments.

Minimum Qualifications

7+ years in software quality engineering, test automation, or software development. Demonstrated technical leadership defining quality strategy for multiple systems or release pipelines. Track record partnering directly with software and build engineers to influence tooling design, quality practices and aligning reporting standards across partner organizations. Experience mentoring QA engineers on automation and build-pipeline literacy. Proficient in Python and Swift, comfortable improving legacy code, committing and driving fixes through to completion in partnership with multiple engineering teams. Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end test automation frameworks, paired with strong manual and exploratory testing skills. Experience validating across multiple Apple platforms: iOS/iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, with a deep understanding of Apple OS fundamentals including deployment and update mechanics, as well as build lifecycle and release management practices. Skilled at testing on physical and virtual Apple hardware. Experienced at lab device provisioning, fleet management, and configuration management. Proficient in test planning, risk-based test design, issue triage, log analysis and independently root-causing failures that span multiple layers (network, OTA systems, hardware, operating systems, device settings, content, applications). Make go/no-go quality decisions, and define release strategies with risk-mitigation and rollback plans. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub, Docker/Kubernetes, Ansible). BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience validating against pre-release software, working with beta builds Comfortable navigating disclosure constraints, working through ambiguity, and defining expected behavior in the absence of finalized requirements Experience testing AI- or ML-driven features where output is non-deterministic Experience leveraging AI in workflows and automation Excellent written and verbal communication. Able to report quality and release-readiness status clearly to cross-functional and leadership stakeholders.
