Senior Project Manager Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join team in Sunnyvale, CA.
SUMMARY:
Trane is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and technically capable Senior Controls Project Manager to support our Building Automation Systems (BAS) service operations in the Sunnyvale office. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage competing priorities with confidence, and communicates effectively with customers, technicians, and internal stakeholders. This position will manage all aspects of controls projects, from beginning to end, with direct responsibility for project execution while leading a team, or teams, to accomplish specific objectives in a given time frame and with available resources. Responsible for the administration, implementation, and management of control projects. Accountable for assigned projects’ scope of work, schedule, and budget. This role reports directly to the Department Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project documentation is delivered within project timelines
· Interacts effectively with internal and external customers
· Completes responsibilities diligently without direct guidance
· Works independently, exercises discretion, applies common sense, and makes competent decisions
· Constantly analyzes for ways to improve individual and team performance
· Manage assigned projects from booking to closeout
· Gather current contract documents and other requirements from the customer at time of project booking
· Communicates with clients and deliver project progress reports as needed
· Drive project budgeting, scheduling, and quality control plan
· Participate in monthly project financial reviews
· Review weekly labor charged to projects
· Prepare monthly project billings
· Maintain RFI log, change order log, submittal log
· Maintain consistent document control for all projects
· Maintain file naming standards
· Coordinate material orders
· Maintain project schedules for all assigned projects
· Coordinate labor needs with field team leaders
· Attend project meetings and maintain meeting minutes for projects as required
· Assist with project access and badging needs
· Collaborates with architects, engineers, electricians, and other specialists to ensure fully coordinated projects
· Ensures BAS service team is involved in the project closeout process and engaged with customer
· Participates in pre-booking reviews for potential projects
· Ensures sales team is aware of project status

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Preferred 5+ years’ experience supporting HVAC Controls construction environments
o Familiarity with BAS platforms (Trane Tracer SC / SC+, Niagara, BACnet environments)
o Knowledge of Trane Control Systems is preferred
· Knowledge of DDC, HVAC systems/operations including reading and interpreting construction blueprints, electrical and electronic diagram/schematics, and sequence of operations
· Knowledge of BAS project execution lifecycle
o Experience coordinating technician schedules and construction delivery workflows
o Experience with BAS workflow including predecessors and successors
o Budget management oversight including developing SOVs
· Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office Suite, Teams, OneDrive, Bluebeam, Smartsheet
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience

We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits and programs. Salary range $125,000 to $155,000 dependent on experience and location.
