Role summary:As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer, you'll design, build, and deliver customer-facing Android experiences that power Walmart's in-store shopping journey. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality, scalable mobile applications that enable personalized ordering and seamless digital experiences. In this role, you'll drive technical excellence through clean architecture, modern mobile development practices, and continuous improvement while mentoring teammates and helping shape the future of our mobile platform. About the team:
Our team is part of Walmart’s Store Technologies organization, dedicated to creating seamless mobile experiences that connect the Walmart app with in-store operations. We focus on digitizing and simplifying the shopping journey, including personalized ordering for Bakery and Deli. Collaborating closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, and Store Operations, we transform complex workflows into reliable iOS and Android applications. The team values ownership, collaboration, thoughtful engineering, and continuous learning while solving real customer challenges and delivering scalable, high-performance features used across Walmart stores.
What you'll do:
- Own delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
- Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
- Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and define success metrics.
- Monitor application performance, support defect resolution, and ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Mentor peers, share knowledge, and promote continuous improvement within the engineering team.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in Kotlin, Java, object-oriented programming, and documentation-based coding practices.
- Strong experience building and maintaining native Android applications using modern Android architecture components and best practices.
- Proficiency in Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Jetpack libraries (ViewModel, Navigation, Room, WorkManager), and Material Design.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, offline data synchronization, and secure mobile authentication.
- Experience with Gradle, Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bitrise, or similar), automated testing (JUnit, Espresso, UI Automator), Firebase Crashlytics, and performance monitoring.
- Strong understanding of Android performance optimization, memory management, accessibility, security, and app lifecycle management.
- Effective collaboration and clear communication with product managers, designers, backend engineers, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
