What you'll do...

Role summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement, test, and maintain services, APIs, and AI/ML components. You will drive the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality code and continuous improvement through automation and monitoring. This role requires strong technical judgment, solution design expertise, and a commitment to engineering excellence. You will mentor peers, engage stakeholders to define requirements, and contribute to innovation while aligning outcomes with broader platform and business objectives.

Walmart’s Advertising Technology group connects supplier brands with retail shoppers at an unmatched scale. This team of skilled engineers and data scientists operates in an agile environment to address complex, high-impact challenges. They manage billions of ad requests monthly through high-performance ad servers and develop intelligent data systems that ingest, model, and optimize vast data flows from online and in-store activities. Utilizing advanced machine learning and optimization algorithms, the team is committed to delivering exceptional experiences that meet the needs of customers and advertisers alike.


What you'll do:

• • Develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.
• • Gain exposure to various technologies used in Advertising and E-commerce platforms. Work with the data scientists and product managers to carry out various experiments across different areas of the AdTech platforms to improve customer experience.
• Drive projects of high visibility across the organization. Must-Have Requirements: 5+ years’ experience in internet-scale distributed technologies Relevant experience with relational / non-relational databases
• • Strong background in algorithms and data structures
• • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience


What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Experience with distributed NoSQL Databases such as Cassandra
  • Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through iterative development and continuous integration/deployment.
  • Demonstrated skills in AI/ML integration and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of platform design, product strategy, and technical leadership in scalable, secure software solutions.
  • Experience with messaging/event streaming platforms (Kafka).
  • Proficiency with cloud databases and services, including Azure SQL.
  • Experience with search technologies such as Solr.
  • Familiarity with vector databases such as Vespa.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver features through iterative development and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).
