Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge optical solutions for new optics architectures, utilizing innovative materials and processes
- Identify, incubate, and productize optical technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the field of Wearable optics
- Specify key performance metrics, test methods, and test requirements for optical components and systems
- Develop and maintain technical roadmaps
- Interface with stakeholders and leadership to influence product roadmaps
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activity
- Manage budgets, resources, and collaborations with global vendors
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
- 6+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of full product development cycle of Consumer Electronics
- Experience and expertise in these areas: optical design software, geometrical optics, wave optics, and polarization optics, optical materials, coatings, manufacturing processes, Imaging optics design and manufacturing, display optics, optical sensing, optical system integration and testing
- Technical leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
- In-depth knowledge of electromagnetic modeling techniques, such as the finite element method (FEM), finite-difference time-domain (FDTD), and rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA)
- Experience working with optical design software such as Meep, Lumerical, LightTools, Zemax, Code V, FRED, or similar
- Experience in building predictive optical models, validating designs and models with metrology data, and closing the loop between simulations and measurements
- Experience using scripting languages and data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, or MATLAB
- Experience working with external vendors to deliver custom optical components, modules, or systems, involving challenging optical requirements to drive innovative fabrication process development, and new opto-mechanical integration and metrology techniques
- Process development and failure analysis experience for optical components and modules such as cameras, sensors, or illumination/projector systems
- Experience in developing optical modules or systems in highly multidisciplinary environments, including setting specifications, determining test methods, and overall module and system integration
$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
