HSE Coordinator
Summary:
This position assists in the implementation and ongoing administration of the corporate health and safety program. Working side-by-side with management and other levels of supervision, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and Hydro Resources policies.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and remediate hazardous workplace conditions.
- Monitor and investigate workers’ compensation claims.
- Assists in managing workers’ compensation claims and supports timely claim resolution.Â
- Reviews vehicle incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.Â
- Provides support, education, and recommendations to all staff to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations.
- General understanding of federal and state occupational safety and health regulations (OSHA).
- Advises staff about regulatory changes with which the region must comply. Enough advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured.Â
- Monitors and maintains resources offered to staff on topics pertaining to wellness, safety, and other subjects as deemed appropriate, including LMS and intranet resources.
- Consults with management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring additional safety training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
- Manage company credit card and gas card in a responsible and ethical manner, in accordance with company policy.
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with company policy. This position occasionally requires driving long distances to service/monitor your area of responsibility.Â
- Travel is required for this position. Occasional travel out of the state dependent upon job site locations. Primary area of responsibility is the Panhandle and West Texas. Travel to the other office jobsites may be required to assist in meeting safety staffing to meet client requirements.
- This position requires routine interaction with field personnel and active job site presence.
- Perform other such duties as assigned within the scope of the position, as well as those reflective of professional experience, education, and ability.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate degree with 2-3 years health and safety-related experience preferred.Â
- Must have solid computer and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record.
- Must submit and pass background, DOT drug/alcohol screening, and reference check.
- Must submit and pass a non-DOT physical.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills (bi-lingual/Spanish speaking is a plus).
- Problem solving skills with ability to respond to problems calmly and independently, as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects and follow-through from beginning to end on assigned tasks.Â
- Proficient in Windows operating systems, cloud-based systems, electronic databases, and Office365.
- General knowledge of current health and safety laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations applicable to CMV/CDL operations preferred.
- Exemplifies professionalism and positive attitude whenever representing the company.
- Partner with jobsite employees, project management, and clients to promote the safest work environment possible for all involved.
- Promote cooperative working relationships and positive team atmosphere.
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA regarding all employee and client issues.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements - Requires repetitive manual hand/finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Also requires the ability to walk up and down stairs, embankments, and on uneven work surfaces in the field. This position will require a non-DOT physical to operate a company vehicle.
- Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements - Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally with all staff, vendors, people we serve and clients.
- Pressure Factor – May require working under stressful conditions at times and handling emergencies. Working conditions may be noisy with fluctuating indoor temperatures. There will be pressure at times to meet scheduled appointments and deadlines and manage crisis situations.Â
