The Role
Swink Coplen & Company is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Tax Manager to serve as a key leader within our tax practice. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for a high-performing tax professional who is energized by leadership, business development, and strategic growth.

This individual will work closely with firm leadership to strengthen client relationships, develop team members, enhance departmental processes, and drive strategic growth initiatives.

For the right candidate, this role is designed to evolve into a Director-level leadership position within 1-3 years, providing the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of our tax practice.


Responsibilities & Essential Functions


Tax Leadership & Client Services
•    Oversee the preparation and review of individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and other complex tax returns.
•    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
•    Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services to clients.
•    Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategic solutions aligned with clients’ financial and business goals.
•    Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key client relationships.


Department Leadership & Team Development
•    Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals across all experience levels.
•    Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and client service excellence.
•    Manage workflow, staffing, and department resources to maximize efficiency and quality.
•    Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities.
•    Help recruit, retain, and develop talent.


Strategic Growth & Business Development
•    Partner with firm leadership to execute the strategic vision for the tax department.
•    Identify opportunities to expand services, improve processes, and enhance client value.
•    Participate in networking events, business development efforts, and prospective client meetings.
•    Cultivate new business opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.
•    Contribute ideas and leadership that support the continued growth and profitability of the firm.


Practice Management
•    Stay current on tax legislation, regulations, and industry developments.
•    Analyze the impact of tax law changes and communicate recommendations to clients and team members.
•    Assist with departmental planning, process improvements, technology initiatives, and overall practice development.


Requirements•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
•    Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
•    Minimum of 10 years of public accounting experience with progressive responsibility in tax.
•    Demonstrated success managing complex tax engagements and client relationships.
•    Proven leadership experience, including mentoring, developing, and managing teams.
•    Strong strategic thinking, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
•    Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
•    Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and related CCH software preferred but not required.
•    Business development experience or a demonstrated interest in growing client relationships strongly preferred.
