A Retail Development Specialist in the banking sector, working as part of the Learning and Development (L&D) team, plays a key role in developing and delivering training programs for bank employees, particularly those working on the frontline in retail banking branches. Their primary focus is to ensure that new and existing retail banking staff possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to provide excellent customer service, meet compliance standards and effectively understand, explain and support banking products. Assures compliance with all bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, Regulation CC, fraud prevention, consumer protection regulations and other applicable banking compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver training programs for retail banking employees, including tellers and branch leaders. Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions for new hires and existing staff. Develop and maintain training materials, guides, presentations, and e-learning content. Lead onboarding programs to ensure employees are prepared for success in their roles. Train employees on banking products, customer service, systems, and regulatory requirements. Coach employees through role-playing, skill development, and performance improvement activities. Partner with Retail Leadership, Compliance, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to identify training needs and implement learning solutions. Monitor training impact and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement. Stay current on industry trends, banking regulations, products, and technologies. Promote a culture of continuous learning and exceptional customer service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualified candidates will have: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; or the equivalent of education and experience required. 3-5 years of service-related training/Retail Banking experience required. Minimum four years of experience working in a Financial Institution. Talent Development Certifications APTD or CPTD a plus. Knowledge of banking environment including teller and banker platforms. Excellent interpersonal skills and an outgoing, friendly, professional personality with good energy and enthusiasm. Ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous assignments/special projects simultaneously. Ability to create and deliver engaging learning experience through all delivery channels including digital, virtual and in-person which will require travel. Ability to learn new processes and procedures quickly and the ability to translate this knowledge to effective training. Ability to evaluate performance and assess additional training needs. Demonstrated success in classroom instruction with strong facilitation skills Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate and negotiate multiple deliverables with all levels. Compensation and BenefitsCompensation and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.75 to $40.00 per hour. This pay range is contingent on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
