JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care and prescribed medical treatments to patients across all hospital settings, including inpatient. This role involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and therapies, and providing personal care and emotional support to individuals who are ill, injured, recovering, or living with disabilities. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient-centered care and promotes a safe and healing environment. This position with Brodstone Healthcare is for night shift. 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  1. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.

  3. Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department in accordance with the scope of practice for the state of Nebraska.
  4. Assesses the patient’s condition and identifies nursing diagnosis in order to set goals; prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
  5. Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person, (i.e. provider, charge nurse and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely.
  6. Assists team members in giving care to patients, delegating appropriate tasks to nursing aides, resource for LPN(s), and/or administer direct care as assigned.
  7. Initiates and updates individualized nursing care plans.
  8. Administers medication and performs treatments to assigned patients as per policy/procedure and documents time, type, amount, etc. on patients’ chart.
  9. Directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to patients.
  10. Assist providers with exams, treatments, and procedures as needed.
  11. Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  12. Ability to operate computer system for tasks including but not limited to admit, discharge, order entry, and document removal.
  13. Participates in orientation of new personnel.
  14. Establishes and maintains communication and utilizes teaching opportunities with patients, and other significant individuals.
  15. Recognizes adverse patient events and responds to and/or initiates emergency measures per hospital policy.
  16. Participates in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Follows standard precautions as prescribed in hospital policies/procedures.
  17. Observes, evaluates, and documents care given as well as the patients’ physical and emotional condition, response to drugs and/or treatments, including side effects, desired response, and contraindications according to hospital policy/procedures.
  18. Allocates time spent in the various areas of care daily when clocking out.
  19. Makes patient referrals to social service/case managers as needed.
  20. Assures continuity of nursing care through modalities such as hand-off report and nursing care plans.
  21. Completes and documents patient rounding per policy to assess for changes in patient condition.
  22. Demonstrates knowledge and responsibility in care and use of equipment and supplies. Informs immediate supervisor of needed supplies and/or equipment or malfunctioning equipment.
  23. Establishes and participates in patient and family education.
  24. Maintains a pleasant and comfortable environment for patients with special consideration to cleanliness of room.
  25. Has the ability to work with a variety of patients, regardless of various racial, ethnic or sociological background, and/or disability.
  26. Demonstrates the requisite knowledge, skill and ability to be assigned to all areas of care, as staffing requires. This includes Medical/Surgical, skilled care, obstetrical (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum), nursery, emergency department, and outpatient services, in addition to above duties and responsibilities.
  27. Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to all areas of care, as staffing requires.  This includes Medical/Surgical, skilled care, obstetrical (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum), nursery, emergency department, and outpatient services, in addition to above duties and responsibilities.
  28. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
  29. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:

  • Required
    • Associates Degree
  • Preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred
    • 1-2 Years in hospital nursing

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Required
    • State of Nebraska RN License or Multi-State RN License
    • BLS certification within 3 months of employment
    • ACLS within 3 months of employment
    • PALS within 3 months of employment
    • NRP within 12 months of employment
  • Preferred
    • TNCC/ATCN/TNAC within 12 months of employment
    • Stable within 12 months of employment
