*Pay rates listed reflect the full rate for this position, including both the base pay and health and welfare benefits in accordance with applicable requirements. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview: In this role, you will oversee the daily maintenance, repair, and operational management of the detention facility while ensuring all building systems, infrastructure, equipment, and operational support services remain safe, functional, and compliant with government detention standards and facility requirements. You will supervise maintenance personnel, coordinate contractor services, manage preventative maintenance programs, and support facility improvement projects within a secure detention environment. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities while maintaining facility safety, security, and operational readiness.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily facility maintenance operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, structural, and security system maintenance activities.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel, contractors, and support staff while coordinating work assignments, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair projects.
  • Conduct facility inspections to identify maintenance deficiencies, operational concerns, safety hazards, or infrastructure repair needs throughout the detention facility.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs, equipment troubleshooting, and urgent maintenance response activities to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Monitor the functionality and compliance of building systems including fire safety systems, generators, lighting, security controls, water systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain inventory accountability for maintenance supplies, tools, operational equipment, fuel, and repair materials while coordinating procurement activities as needed.
  • Review work orders, maintenance logs, inspection records, contractor reports, and operational documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Coordinate vendor services, contractor access, facility improvement projects, and repair activities while ensuring compliance with facility security procedures.
  • Support audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and operational assessments related to facility operations, safety standards, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance operations comply with government detention standards, OSHA regulations, environmental safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Prepare operational reports, maintenance summaries, repair tracking documentation, and budget-related information for facility leadership review.
  • Maintain professionalism, leadership, effective communication, and strong problem-solving skills while supporting safe and efficient detention facility operations.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in facility management, operations, or maintenance engineering, preferably within a detention, correctional, institutional, or high-security environment.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations applicable to large-scale physical plants and building maintenance.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain strict emotional control, situational awareness, and professional communication while operating within a secure detention facility.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
