Overview

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an NSX Administrator to work in a Hybrid role in Harrisburg wokring on site one day a week.  

As an NSX Administrator, you will be responsible to design, deploy, configure, and manage VMware NSX environments while supporting secure, stable, and high-performing virtualized network infrastructure.

 


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and administer enterprise VMware NSX-T environments, including logical routing, switching, load balancing, and distributed firewall policies.
  • Manage micro-segmentation strategies and enforce network security best practices across virtualized workloads.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking and virtualization issues involving network overlays, transport nodes, edge appliances, and integrations with physical networks.
  • Perform maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management of NSX components and related VMware platforms.
  • Collaborate with network, server, and security teams to support architecture designs, platform upgrades, and new deployments.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Monitor NSX infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and logs using native and third-party monitoring tools.
  • Support incident response activities related to network virtualization and provide escalation support for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including topology diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide timely support for critical infrastructure issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong experience administering VMware NSX-T in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related VMware ecosystem technologies.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex networking and virtualization issues across multiple layers.
  • Familiarity with network security best practices and micro-segmentation design.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, REST APIs, or comparable technologies.

 

Preferred Experience

  • VMware certifications such as VCP-NV, VCAP-NV, or equivalent hands-on VMware NSX expertise.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and environments, including AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with monitoring and network management tools such as vRealize Network Insight, Aria Operations, SolarWinds, Splunk, or comparable platforms.
