The Quality Technician ensures the integrity, safety, and compliance of medical and industrial electrical panel assemblies by executing precise inspections, calibrations, and documentation protocols. This role is central to maintaining ISO and FDA readiness, minimizing rework, and supporting continuous improvement across production. The technician collaborates with production, engineering, and quality teams to uphold rigorous standards in a regulated environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Tool Calibration & Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled calibrations on crimpers, torque drivers, and other hand tools using certified standards.
  • Maintain traceable calibration logs with asset IDs, calibration dates, and technician signatures.
  • Flag out-of-tolerance tools and coordinate corrective actions to prevent quality escapes.

Wire Kit & First Article Inspections

  • Conduct first article inspections on wire kits and control panel assemblies, verifying wire gauge, routing, labeling, and terminations against drawings and BOMs.
  • Document inspection results with batch/lot traceability and escalate discrepancies via NCRs.

In-Process Audits & Quality Checks

  • Perform process audits during panel assembly to ensure compliance with SOPs, work instructions, and IPC/UL standards.
  • Validate torque specs, crimp integrity, and component placement during build stages.
  • Record audit findings and support root cause analysis for recurring issues.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate and maintain quality reports, calibration records, and inspection logs using designated QMS or ERP systems.
  • Ensure documentation is audit-ready and linked to production orders or serial numbers.
  • Support internal and external audits with organized, compliant records.
  • Maintain training records for all employees

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in CAPA investigations, risk assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and training teams to enhance build quality and reduce defects.

Physical Requirements

  • Safely lift and move boxes or panel components up to 40 pounds as part of inspection and calibration workflows.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace in compliance with 5S and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics or quality assurance is a plus.
  • 2+ years in quality inspection or calibration within a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with calipers, torque testers, crimp pull testers, and multimeters required.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and traceability.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel drawings.
  • Experience in medical device or electrical assembly environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, FDA QSR, and IPC/UL standards.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician or equivalent preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of ERP/QMS systems preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical components, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques preferred.
